Ah, Mr. Smith. We've been expecting you. The top floor; please use the elevator in the back. Of course, I remember all the faces of our guests. Even your bag, Sir...

Fan translations thread

Post by CENSORED »

I'll post all things related to translating japanese-only GHM stuff in this thread.
Qish previously financed the translation for the first half of the Flower, Sun and Rain GPara interview, you can read that here:
https://dijehtranslations.wordpress.com ... -and-rain/
I'm currently financing the second half myself, with the same translator.
The second half would be, the stuff from the Q&A on the GPara fansite.
https://web.archive.org/web/20080201020 ... sr/r18.htm
Which funnily enough was the first time Suda admitted that Moonlight Syndrome, Silver Case and FSR are connected as a trilogy.
This is the current project, here's other stuff that might be of interest:

The Syndrome Games

A whole lot of stuff about Moonlight Syndrome has been translated by FFTranslations on her website:
http://fftranslations.atspace.co.uk/syn/index.html

Untranslated stuff includes:
Twilight Syndrome Truth Files
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... uth-files/
That's a huge undertaking, which would also involve me buying another copy of the book to scan it in its entirety, not to mention fully translating a book would be incredibly expensive, so it's not high up on my list but it is out there.

Moonlight Syndrome Character Profiles
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... che-files/

Character notes and two short stories (Yocyou and Rinne)
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... ata-files/
This I consider doable, considering the pages are already scanned and they're not too long.

The Silver Case

The old website for The Silver Case has a bunch of interesting things, chiefly a Q&A with Suda where he gets into some stuff about the story:
https://web.archive.org/web/20050226133 ... verqa.html
But there's also some analysis by some guy I don't know about the individual chapters, character profiles and other stuff which might be of interest

The Silver Case novel was already translated by FFTranslations, the same person who translated a whole bunch of moonlight syndrome content
http://fftranslations.atspace.co.uk/tscnov/index.html

Flower, Sun and Rain

FSR apparently also had an extensive interview dedicated to it on Famitsu but for the life of me, I can't find the original source yet
https://twitter.com/i/events/986628524906704897
I tried browsing archives of the famitsu website, I tried looking through old famitsu issues archived on archive.org but I could find nothing

FSR complete Fanbook:
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... l-fanbook/
A very interesting book; however, paying for a professional translation would either bankrupt me or take an impossibly long time. Therefore, I am interested in it but I wouldn't consider it an option unless other people want to pitch in economically.

Water short story:
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... xing-time/
This is like half a page long, I'm sure we can just pay whatever is necessary to translate it right after the interview, it's also already scanned

Killer7

Most of the Killer7 side content has been translated already

Hand in Killer7 translation:
http://www.deltaheadtranslation.com/adi ... ILLER7.txt

Hand in Killer7 interview translation:
http://www.sceneryrecalled.com/trans/k7int.htm

The exception being the Killer is Dead short story
The first four chapters are available online:
https://www.famitsu.com/serial/fable51/index2.html
The other two chapters are on the Suda51 complete book, which I own. If we ever decide to go through with this one, I will take better scans of those two chapters since I remember it being pretty affordable.

No More Heroes

The No More Heroes perfect guide includes a short story, I know a guy who might be interested in translating that for free so I'll keep you posted on that one. He already gave me permission to post it on the website but he either hasn't finished it yet or he hasn't gotten around to send it to me, we have been both pretty busy in recent months.

I also have a no more heroes 2 comic, most of it was translated here:

however, the copy I have has a few more pages of comedy stuff and what not, personally I don't give a shit but I'll scan it eventually and we'll see if anyone cares about it, I'm not gonna put down money for it though

Others

Kurayami Magazine:
https://suda51.fandom.com/wiki/KURAYAMI_MAGAZINE
I have this book, I'll post full scans eventually once I get around to it (I'm kind of afraid to damage it because it is very rare, but I will eventually, just not right now since I'm on vacation lol.) but I don't plan to put down money to translate it. However if anyone is interested in doing that I'll get a number from our translator and see what we can do. It has a bunch of promotional materials and interviews, which I can't be bothered to care about considering how much of a media blackout Shadows of the Damned was under.

I also have this promotional magazine:
https://www.alistdaily.com/media/shadow ... -as-bonus/
my opinions are the same as Kurayami Magazine, I'll post the scans but I don't care enough for SOTD to put down money for this.

Lollipop Chainsaw also has a prequel manga but I'm not even going to put it up as a joke

The Kurayami Dance manga was already translated by Twitter user Falions
http://www.believeinthe.net/kurayami.html

So was the short story Red, Blue and Green, which was also turned into some interactive visual novel (the original was just text)
http://www.believeinthe.net/rbg/download.html

The rest of the untranslated stuff comes from the Suda 51 Complete Book:
https://www.paradisehotel51.com/sin/201 ... lete-book/

Translating the whole book would again be a massive economic undertaking, so for now I'll put the priority on the Killer is Dead and Shadows of the Damned original scenarios, the ones that Suda wrote which went unused in the final versions of the games.

What I want from those four of you who give a fuck is some suggestions on what we should proceed with. As I mentioned already, our current project is the GPara FSR interview. What should we focus on once that is done? I know what my priorities are but I want to hear other people's takes as well to come up with an order in which to proceed going forward.
Keep in mind that both me and Qish have pitched in in the past and plan to keep doing that in the future. We might accept money from other people if they want to speed things up but I'll just direct them directly to the translator if they ever ask, because I know that I'll just be accused of being a grifter anyway

Upcoming:
- FSR GPara interview
- No More Heroes short story

Translations under consideration:
- Moonlight Syndrome Character Profiles
- Moonlight Syndrome Character Notes
- Moonlight Syndrome Short Stories
- Silver Case Old Website (Q&A, chapter analysis)
- FSR Famitsu Interview (if we can ever find it)
- FSR Water Short story (I'll just do this one anyway, since it's pretty cheap)
- Killer7 Short Story (Killer is Dead, currently the prequel to TSA)
- Killer is Dead original scenario
- Shadows of the Damned original scenario

Stuff I don't really care about but I will scan:
- NMH2 Erotica Comic
- Kurayami Magazine
- Playbox Magazine

Stuff that is currently too expensive, but might be considered in the future:
- Twilight Syndrome Truth Files
- FSR Fanbook
- SUDA51 Complete Book

Here's a more organized version of the Silver Case website content. The website was operated by Sagara Nobuhiko, who wrote all the analysis pages and handled the Q&A with Suda51

The rest of the website isn't really important, it contains basic informations such as a guestbook, purchase options, wether you'd be interested in buying the game and what not.

I tried to look at the old FSR and K7 websites as well but I couldn't really find anything of importance, I am always happy to be proven wrong and have more material though

Turns out I am stupid and there is a lot more to the FSR website than I thought

Front page:

Old message boards (interesting to see japanese speculation about the game in 2001):

Game system description:

the lower links in this latest page seem to have been an image gallery of sorts which unfortunately has not been preserved

As a curiosity, here's the original 25th ward website, though there aren't really any interesting editorials or anything else really
https://web.archive.org/web/20070113033 ... /menu.html
I'll do a site map for the gpara website as well later, I might just post them on the website as well

I'm having quite a hard time navigating the gpara website through the archives so I'll just link the important stuff here:

front page:
https://web.archive.org/web/20080110083 ... /index.htm

chapter analysis, including a Q&A with Suda and some character discussion as well (unfortunately a couple of answers and the final episode were not preserved):
https://web.archive.org/web/20080131145 ... r/main.htm

Introduction to the game (the character profiles were unfortunately not preserved):
https://web.archive.org/web/20080201020 ... /intro.htm

downloadables:
https://web.archive.org/web/20080201020 ... /movie.htm

https://web.archive.org/web/20080201020 ... /index.htm

Suda51 interview (the one that's already translated):
https://web.archive.org/web/20080131145 ... erview.htm

Game review:
https://web.archive.org/web/20051126090 ... ge_013.htm

There were message boards but apparently they are also lost to time

update; I actually tracked down and purchased those Famitsu issues with the FSR interview, I'll get them shipped to me later down the line since I want to consolidate the shipment once I buy some more stuff. However once they arrive I'll scan all the important parts

I just happened upon CJ's youtube and noticed that the proluge for the Moonlight Syndrome translation is up.

Also, one for Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summon, and Persona 2.

I'm guessing the P2 fan translation is for the PSP version with the extra scenario for Tatsuya.

Good find, thank you. The previously uploaded translation for the Moonlight Syndrome prologue had been scrubbed from the internet. I hope the project actually gets finished someday.
I will update the website to link to the new translation

Yeah the Eternal Punishment PSP translation has been going on since 2014. Devil Summoner has also been translated for almost a decade but nobody could reliably hack the translation into the game if I remember correctly.

Hi.

I recently did a translation of the mystery section of the Flower, Sun, and Rain Official Fanbook (titled Someone to Watch Over Me) and thought that I might post it here in case anyone was interested. Also, included the FSR comments from the Suda51 Complete Book as a little bonus.

Thanks
