Idk how to start this thread and whatnot it is. Just wanna talks about megaten in general, like just posting bout what u liek or heit bout this frankenstein of a series.
To start this thread, I wanna make a coming out. Yeah, I guess there's no escape from it. Yeah, guys, I really liek Persian Owna 5... That's it, I've said it!!! NNO MORE PRESSURE ON ME!!! I BEG!!! Eh, whatnot. Who's gonna read this shit anyway?
So, to start off, my general opinion on the series: Fuck, I like mainline. This shit was something of a grasp of fresh air in the world where majority of jrpgs are either fantasy shiet or scifi shiet. What's the difference though? Although early games, anything prior to Nocturne (I ain't gonna play NEIN NEIN NEIN and form my opinion on it) was too abstract for my taste in visual department, I thought that even little bits of something outside the dungeons SMT1/2 had to offer were great. Yet my one true love of mainline will always be SMTIV. I just can't understand why, but the whole feeling of walking around post-covid Tokyo bombarded by Americans for spreading this whole chinese virus was fucking great. Even though ppl say it was "held back" by the limitations of 3DS, with what I disagree, I can't bring myself to circle jerk about how great Nocturnal or Strange Jeremy is. I just fucking orgasm from the whole UI and map design in IV.
Shit, I can't even describe since I'm severely retarded how fucking awesome the feeling of the game is. I just feel like what the game was supposed to make you feel - an explorer. Since the setting up of whole Naraku and Mikado shit and discovering brand new alien world of Tokyo, I was fully engaged in playing through this game. Mind you, I AM a cheap bastard and yet I purchased this shit for 3DS without any remorse. Still, I hacked it for next megaten titles, but who the fuck cares?????
Also, I believe that bringing APPS system from SH and SJ was a great addition. Saving on the go was a great addition. Cathedral of Shadows on the go was a great addition. I couldn't care less about bitches whining about "muh casuls" for all I care is that I won't sacrifice my real life (actually I would and that's proved by my one-week-playthrough of DeSu1-2 and going straight from SJ to SMTIVA). Smirk mechanic was better than one-more in my opinion. I just loved that smug face of Flynn. Real G.
Also, what made this game phenomenal is how fucking good soundtrack is. I think this was the theme of Minotaur? Yeah, great fucking opening song for, I think, the first boss the player will encounter. If they're not autistic to fight David and other fucks in the beginning. Sets the mood for the whole game.
I know the muh law muh kaaaos fags trash it for having weak or whatnot story. I don't care. I fucked Isabeau om my first playthrough without looking at guides and on my second decided to side with Whites since they're cool. I couldn't care less about the feud between ANIME IS SHIT LAW vs ANIME IS GOOD EMBRACE NIHON KAAAAOS. A solid 10/10.
SMTIVA, by being more of a companion title was a pleasant surprise. Despite all the rage of harcore mainline retards for it being Persona-lite, I still didn't give a fuck about all that shit. Not only they improved the battle system, but made the greatest plot of all megaten. I could live in a postapocalyptic world as a demi-fiend ripoff with bro Dagda by my side, watching lil girls orgasm, wearing bikinis and shit, eventually killing them all for they wanted to snitch on me, resurrecting, I think it was that hunter bitch who wanted to snitch me out, and impregnating her while killing a fucking BIG YALLOW HEAD. Also, CLEOPATRA'S TITS.
Since it's all about meinkampfline, the next will be STRAIGHT JOURNEY. Man, I really liked what they did in the OG. You can feel how fucking cool the game will be from that screenshot.
And then I stopped playing it, time went by, I picked up Nintendo 3DS version and couldn't believe my eyes. Oh my fucking god they remade the game and made it jrpg this time. FUCK I WANNA SHOOT DAEMONS. And also they added the whole LE HUMANITY BAD LE HUMANITY IS TO BLAME plot shit. Aside from being a tight dungeon crawler, I can't really say that much about the game. Maybe that DSJ is a great game because NEW NEUTRAL makes you a doomslayer and still shows the main theme of megaten of cyclical world. I dunno. I never liked the soundtrack here. I liked the environments though.
Right, next is NOCTURINE. Never finished it for a plethora of reasons. Don't want to. Despite all the shit I said if I did bout urine, I still like it just for music alone. PRESS-TURN or ONE-MORE or whatnot this shitty system was called was a great improvement over all past shit. It's actually euphoric in a way to GET this extra turn in battle. It's an easy stimulation, but really enjoyable one. What sucks is that even for remastered edition, fatlus didn't remade or found original HQ ost of the game.
Also Demie-Field was a real gamer, like us. Hating women and niggeroni from day 1. MAD RESPECT.
I can't say a lot about SMT1 and 2 since I also haven't finished them. Guess I'm lazy. I can say shit about if... though, but I'll hold it off until I start talking about my favourite branch - pussiporna/debilsamona.
I played in KYUUKAKU version of MT and enjoyed it. The claustraphobic, always player-hating environment, sometimes banger soundtrack . Yeah, despite all the flaws and sheer brutality of the first game in the series, even being remade for pussies like me, I still liked it a lot. Nakajima was a retard tho.
[THE FOLLOWING SECTION TALKING ABOUT MAJIN TENSEI, LAST BIBLE, DEVIL CHILDREN WAS EXCLUDED DUE TO BEING DESCRIBED AS "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THESE SHITTY GAMES ANYMORE I DON'T CARE I DON'T CARE I DON'T CARE FUCK FUCK FUCKFUCKFUCKUFKC]
Oh yeah. There's also Devil Survivor games, aren't there? I loved them. I guess I replayed DeSu1 the time covid started. Man, was that immersive! I think atmosphere-wise, by keeping a sweet balance of realism and that whole fantasy aspect of MegaTen, it creates a powerful immersion into the game's world. The idea of game's taking place in a spun of a week and the world slowly collapsing in just a week is such a satisfying thing. The despair of protagonists, the whole discord between what way should we take to end this madness. I think it's surely in a top 5 megaten games for me. Haven't thought about that anyway. I can even remember some music from it, which is an achievement.
The sequel, Devil Survivor 2 was a weird shit. I liked the way it mixes the whole death by video premise, some funny deaths, tits, fucking black hole eating world, evangelion shit tier bosses and retarded MC. Strangely enough, it's enjoyable rollercoaster. Though the OST were shit. But who cares? This game is full of based shit
I think what's left to me is Jack Bros and Synchronicity. The first one is shit. The second is good.
Oh, there's also SMT Imagine. I liked walking around empty streets. It was charming experience even though I was surrounded by chinks with weird avatars.
Also, I remembered about DDS, but this and Persona/DDS I will left for the next post. I think. Maybe not. I don't wanna write retarded shit but /walltext

Re: HELLO WORLD I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU MY OPNION BOUT MEGAMI TENSI GAMS IVE PLAID!!
Now, I can quickly go over first DDS game, since I for some reason didn't touch the second one.
I think the whole lore of the world and world design is great. The Junkyard is awesome to look at and it feels pretty unique.
The concept of the whole thing being simulation and real world being the same shitty place was if not mind-blowing, but damn good one. I think the catch there is that at the end of the first game you destroy the whole digital world, seeing this whole epic ending with falling down Serph, everything disappearing, shit like that. I bet at release it was really cool. Also, the whole "cannibalistic" aspect of the game was great. I think aesthetically it was perfect. It's something really close to mainline while still being its own thing.
Also, I think protagonist's demon form is great. Number one out of all playable models in the whole megaten. It's a real male fantasy.
So that's all for all other branches other than my favourite one, I guess? Well, remind me if I'm wrong, whatever.
So, here comes Persona/DevilSummoner. Man, I don't think I can write that much about it all, but I surely love it.
First of all, let me tell you that SMTif...
SUCKS ASS, FUCK THIS SHITTY GAME, but it was the title that settled that SMT could be something more than a postapocalyptic story. Even though that dungeon-wise it doesn't really differ from other SMT games on the surface, somehow gimmicks (or let's say the major gimmick of Sloth iirc?) make this game memorable. Yeah, I can't not mention the infamous world of sloth with walking in circles until god destroys Sodom and Gomorrah. Also, I hate final bosses in SMT games, for being too OP for autistic me. And Hazama in true route? COME ON, I'M NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH. Aside from that, the game does a lot of things: 1) Made the main setting school and the main antagonist school shooter. It makes the whole plot feels less despairing, instead of GREAT FLOOD of mainline and all real nasty stuff going on in the new world. 2) Introduce guardian system, which is proto-personas. I don't think I'm a fan of this system. I think it's pretty barebones and now you're forced to rely on RNG to get skills. It wouldn't be that much of a problem if not it being an early MegaTen title with strong reliance on insta-kill spells. 3) Make a separate branch where SMT 1 didn't happen. Although it's a mainline game, it doesn't feature all these classic elements such as alignment system and... I guess that's all classic to it. I didn't enjoy it, but I liked it.
Experimentations didn't end with if... and a short time after, the holy nation of Japan saw the first entry in Devil Summoner series.
Okay. This game is my favourite in the series. I love how it looks, how it sounds, how tame it looks compared to all we've seen prior to that. Of course, all the praise goes to more polished PSP version. Wasn't it the first fully 3D megaten? I dunno. This is the real start of something different in the series. Now, we, proud hero, live a normal life of a normal young adult and it happens that white-haired priest niggerman got us killed. I mean, how does that sound for a premise? Yep, you're gonna die at the start of the game. And by some chance local devil summoner got killed too and your magical trip to hell is canceled and now you're back to the land of the living! But now in the body of devil summoner Kyouji Kuzunoha! I think that characters are, in a way, too flat, even though it's only the earliest title in the franchise, but man, the only redeeming quality of them is them being better than p5 cast. Oh, and actual Kyouji being the best mofo out there. It's not really that much, but I guess it was the first game in the series with sidequests, I guess if not then the first in the series to feature sidequests with dungeons. Of course, it seems that they're not important and you can skip them and shorten your way to avenge niggerman, but damn. It's just too funny when there is a demon infestation in local university and instead of going there, you're going to exorcise local nazi spirit or whatnot because grandma told you that she will pay you 50k yen (hey, Tetsu!). Even Rei Reiho is gonna question your decision. HOWEVER, the main reason to love the game is the reason to hate it - the dungeons. They're cool, not gonna lie, majority of them aren't even hard, BUT DAMN, SOMETIMES, LIKE B7F(?) of Ancient Tomb being insufferable, warp maze is a hell. Also, this marks the second appearance of guardians or some sort of thing like that. But now it's your trusty partner Rei who's gonna host 1 out of 3 "guardian spirits" in her which will give her certain skills with level ups. Also, I can't not to mention the fucking plot twist that happens nearly by the end of the game which is, in my opinion, is so fucking good, considering the fate of that character in the following games. Yeah, good shit, good shit.
Coming up next - MEGAMI IBUNROKU PERSONA. THE GAME THAT STARTED MEGAMI TENSEI FRANCHISE, BUT AFTER 3.
So, after DS they decided to create a new separate branch focusing mainly on high schoolers and canonising SMT if... for this universe. So, personas are a logical continuation of guardian mechanic from if... which is cool. Now the "demon" isn't a 1 of 6 niggas in a row, but a continuation of protagonist that can be easily swapped at will. Plot-wise, it's same old "protagonists will save the world from the great evil: the game", but I can't really hate something like that. It's just a pleasant world to be in. I just can't hate quirky characters of this game, the whole events and memes from localization such as SUPER KANDORI. It's just way too charming. Also, it's cool when the devs explore, I guess, less "mature" themes and make the game about teenagers, well, a balanced game about teenagers. It still tackles themes such as self-confidence, love and shit like that, but the whole isolation of Maki and how she battles with it by escapism is great shit. Now, for the actual gameplay. I didn't play PS1 version, will never play it I'm afraid, but PSP has great gameplay. One of the most unique battle systems in JRPGs, it's just good tactical experience. Honorable mention should be getting soundtrack. It's THE BEST OF THE BEST OF ALL SOUNDTRACKS OF MEGATEN. Nothing can compare to how great it is. Now, for the dungeon part. It's a hit or miss. The SEBEC route is a fine walk. Nothing really fucked up. But man, Snow Queen Quest route? I lost my shit. I think SQQ can be compared to the frustration I've experienced in some latter dungeons of DevilSummoner, but here, thankfully, it's not THE main route, although it considered canon. SEBEC is a fine improvement over DevilSummoner, no cap frfrfr.
All in all, I'm getting too tired from writing all that crap and gonna continue later... TO BE CONTINUED

Spoiler
so after teaming up with Kyouji's spirit in astral world and beating niggerman for second time, Kyouji says something like "heh since your body is here and it's mine body, get the fuck outta here" and we see the familiar cutscene with Charon telling us that welp, it's time to go to hell. After successfully getting our ass out of the depth of hell itself, Charon being amused by our willpower lets us to return to Kyouji's body, since he was separated from it for too long and can't enter it. Kyouji isn't really pleasant about the news that we got out of there and want to take the body back, but Charon btfo this faggot and Kyouji accepts his fate of being a lesser devil summoner than random guy from the streets. Thus forever snatching other people's bodies. And the irony at the moment is that he takes the body of a local vampire gangster, who was beaten by the MC and remains in this body till the end of the game.

Re: HELLO WORLD I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU MY OPNION BOUT MEGAMI TENSI GAMS IVE PLAID!!
Ain't gonna add something fancy posting from workplace. But here it is!
Soul (Soul) Ha(Ha)ckers!
I think it was my 2nd purchase on 3DS, right after SMT IV. I dropped it initially for SMTIV anyways. Got filtered by dungeon crawler shit and was still a retard not to use buffs. I've beaten quite a bit of MT games at this point though, so measure my autism according to this info.
Anyway, SH is a big change of atmosphere coming from the first DevilTamer or the first Persona. It's quite an interesting era of MegaTen, since every new game (or at least major game) tried different approaches to world design and what could be more hip than apocalypse? That's right - CYBEERPAANK!
I think it may be the best cyberpunk presentation in the level of comfort. Though it's hard to believe that Amami city can co-exist with Hirasaki city and Mikage town. Especially at the same time in the 90s. But who cares, it's cool. I think they really nailed it with the atmosphere in this one.
The cast here is way better than in the DS. Spookies have at least more screen time than the cast of the previous game. Their dynamic is also better. And how I can not to mention the sexy goddess of megaten such as Nemissa. Hell yeah, let demon soul posses your dull gf and turn her into a walking sex machine goth gf. It was a funny and unique dynamic between Nemissa, Hitomi and Protag. Here marks the official appearance of the Phantom Society, which Sid Niggers was a part of. And, honestly, knowing what happens in the og DS, I can see some parallels between games. Like the whole body possession thing, the entire city being the host of a ritual (though it was a thing of every game of this era?), the bombings and the whole theme of resurrecting old god and then making you walk in ancient tombs to fuck their plans. It's not a copycat, but funny recurring things between games. The antagonists there are more fleshed out than Sid and honestly, it was a fresh to me idea to play as antagonists for a while prior to their death. Madam Ginkou though was sexier in DS. Glad that she's still as rich as ever. And Kyouji in a new body and Reiho? What a nice cameo. Though it makes me wonder what the hell is going on since DS established her dislike towards Kyouji and wanted to work together with the MC. Though I guess I misremember shit and they didn't appear together. Whatever, no wonder he saw a substitute for her in Tamaki Uchida and got cucked by Sadashi. Cuckoldry of Kyouji continues.
Music is also what makes this game exceptional. 2D field theme is great for spacing out and thinking about nothing! The battle system is also better than in DS, and playing the game on 3DS was such a blessing for having a map on the bottom screen instead of always using automap button and wait for it to open. Great game, sanku atrus.
Perusona 2 duology
Man, what a dulogy it is. Man, just, man... I think I'm also biased since IS is the first megaten I've finished. But whatever. Great shit.
First of all, it's THE crossover cameo games of the series. The bridge between the Old World of these sub-series to the New World of modern Persona and I guess Soul Hackers 2 by extension. Recurring characters from SMT if..., Persona and Devil Summoner serves as the final treaty between serieses. A real love letter to the fans.
P2 continues the epic save the world tone of previous games, but makes it, in my opinion, the most grandiose high stakes journey in the whole MegaTen. Conspiracies, secret societies, drama, THE CITY AS A PLACE OF RITUAL, blowing the fuck the World, overall craziness and sins and punishment. Yeah, this shit is undeniably good plot-wise. Gameplay-wise it was so-so. Piss-easy remake of IS and EP, somewhat hard for my autistic brain PS1 og, simply because I refuse to talk with demons. This is why I haven't finished EP... It was cool to see the world in great 3D+Pixels format for entirety of the game and not to spend majority of time dungeon crawling in first person. The soundtrack was cool, but not really as banger as in the first one.
I think there are a lot of cool shit with rumours affecting reality and stuff like that, which are relevant in modern world, but nah, I'm too stupid for this video essay shit. You can say what you want to say. Be as retarded as you can be. Just stay positive ~

Re: HELLO WORLD I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU MY OPNION BOUT MEGAMI TENSI GAMS IVE PLAID!!
A small uрdатe...
Persona 3. The game that defined the series forever, the game that changed JRPGs forever!!!!111
Overall, I think it's the last title that somehow connects with previous games and ends these ties after all. Classic titles are suffering from eternal punishment at this point.
P3 is, undoubtedly, very different from any other megaten titles. Calendar system, S.Link system, classes system, dividing the game in 2 parts: social life and exploration. I guess it's something that will be in Persona since this game forever. Not that it's something that bad in my opinion. Overall, it's a good change of pace from previous dungeon crawler games.
The plot of the story is also a funny thing. Being le Death itself, battling with THE DEATH (I know how stupid this sound) with the power of friendship (which is funny how that point is why people blame nusona, as if P1 and P2 wasn't about that). What's bothersome is that characters are getting worse and worse from this point, even though P3 gets free pass for characters being a fine representation of high schoolers. They're not SO WEIRD AND UNIQUE as P4 and P5 will later do with its main cast, and that's a good and a bad thing at the same time. It's kinda cool how we spent the whole game with average highschoolers and they're memorable alright, especially the rich gal Mitsuru and a fuckin robot gal Aegis, but it's not as weird as RICH GIRL, IDOL GIRL, TEDDY BEAR, GAYMAN AD DETECTIVE BOY, BUT ACTUALLY A GRILL. Huh...
The base gameplay was interesting in how you operate your party based on a limited command list that you can order them to do, but I never finished any PS2 version, so of course I played superior P3P version in which you can control the party yourself, which makes the game easier, but whatever.
The shittiest part of the game is, undeniably, the main dungeon - Tartarus tower. You know, it was a better dungeon in the first game! Here it is a slugfest of boring level design, the trend that will continue in P4 and will be finally fixed partially in P5 with actual dungeons and boring Memestos.
Despite it being the first game that I've played in the series, I haven't finished it after like P2,P1 and something else, lmao.
Also I liked that Aegis is a plot point that was mentioned by Nanjo in P2EP and she was developed by Kirijo group, which is a daughter company for Nanjo group. Neat.
Huh...
