As I often do, I was listening to one of the highest triumphs of Heavy Metal ever recorded, Manowar's "Hail and Kill":

Rip their flesh, burn their hearts
Stab them in the eyes
Rape their women as they cry

(laughter)

Kill their servants, burn their homes
Till there's no blood left to spill
Hail and kill
Power and dominion are taken by the will
By divine right, hail and kill

Manowar of course are working within an earlier instantiation of the fantasy genre where this view of rape as a spoil of war is common.

Couldn't do that in le current year!

Indeed, no! As we see again and again, to equivocate rape with other forms of violence is completely off the table.
It's a special type of violence (a violence, you may have been told, entirely unrelated to sex) which is different to and more important than all the others.
