I'm interested in the depiction of dogs being killed in games at the discretion of the player.
I assume most of you are familiar with the "Can you pet the dog?" meme.
What I would like to compile is a sort of "Can you kill the dog?" list.
The website Does the Dog Die? is a great resource, but it's quite inefficient for just browsing.
Please post any examples you can think of.
For example: Hotline Miami actually has an achievement for killing a large number.
Cases where the villainy of antagonists is established through dog slaughter are not what we are after but by all means mention those too.
I believe a picture will start to form as examples come in.
The above website ought to give a hint.

Perfect.
I should add that I wouldn't really count "monster" dogs like those in Bio, SH, etc.
Wolves don't count either, though that's relevant in another way.

Confirmed in GTA V (I never remember running into dogs outside of that stupid training Mission with Franklin, was this added in an update?):
Red Dead Redemption 2:
And Hitman: Blood Money:

It irks me that my great idea for a thread hasn't had people flocking to participate.
I will have to post some examples of my own. Later.
Kind of surprises me Rockstar would include that. You don't even kill women in their games.

Dogs > Women, so...not that surprising.

I would agree that women are a type of dog, but can a game really be called "open world" if I can't freely murder both?

I assume this is a joke. Obviously I wasn't talking about the "open world" part of the game. Female NPCs can be killed in Rockstar games. What they lack is canonical murder of women by the player character. Boss from 3 doesn't count (obviously). In crime games women ought to be constant collateral damage. This doesn't happen because "I may be a criminal but I'm still a good person". Hitman is especially guilty of this. I haven't played the newer games but I watched master gamer Gachaman on Youtube play them skillfully. They're extremely offensive for a lot of reasons I won't get into (In this thread. Keep your eyes peeled), but one that's pertinent here is every mission briefing sets up your targets as bad people.
This was my fault for confusing two issues. I don't think any western game exists where a dog is always killed by the player either. Which proves my point about everything actually. This is not the topic of the thread though and I'm sorry for taking us off course.
