I'm not going to lie. I had no clue who did dude was. I always assumed Yu Gi Oh was just some product Konami cooked up that took off and remained popular. Reminds me of the Death of the Crayon Shin Chan manga's dead. Out during something recreational by himself, and then people run across his corpse.

It was apparently a snorkling accident. Why was a 60 year old man out swimming with no partner? That is just foolish in general. I'm sure his age didn't help in whatever situation lead to this. People got to come to grips with their age sooner or later.

Sixty year-old men should do precisely this type of thing. Total respect for not dying of illness or old age in some defeated state.
Like you I know basically nothing about Yu-Gi-Oh. It's partially responsible for the "dumb, fat, Egpyt" aesthetic which isn't great, but it was hardly the worst offender there.
It introduced a lot of western millenials and zoomers to anime. It's rare for an artist to be able to be able to enrich untold lives in that way.

Rest in peace.
