What the fuck is this Hades bullshit that everyone keeps overrating? "BRO GET HADES YOU GOTTA GET HADES BRO!" but then these motherfuckers never properly explain to you why its good. They just say some stupid shit about how it has good gameflow, but don't explain to you why or how, lol.

I checked its Plebbit, and you see nothing but god awful memes that think they're funny. Damn how I really fucking hate modern internet. That Memestubation thread I wrote eons ago, aptly describes modern internet well. It really is filled with brainless retards who just repeat memes in place of an actual personality.

It seems like every year, there's always some stupid Indie smark game, based off of Diablo, Metroidvania & Dark Souls that always gets overrated to high hell as the internet darling of the generation.
Every single time, the game is actually crap or merely average but all of the Pleebbit faggots swear to you that it's actually the best gaem evar!

Shit like Blasphemy, Children of Morta, Dead Cells, and now Hades. This shit never fucking ends, it's like they clone all of these games & then just shill it to Reddit retards who will eat the game up, if it gets enough plebbit likes, AYY LMAO! It's really hard to tell how these games actually play, coz 90% of the fans will only tell you what you'd already know from the marketing department.
You have to actually play these garbage games to finally realize that they fucking suck, lol. I know that's the case for Morta & Dead Ceels since motherfuckers wouldn't shut the fuck up about it so I tried them out, I'm like damn dis game ugly! Gameplay also isn't anything special but it's allegedly the best game of all tiem! Blasphemy just looked awful from the get-go. Hades also looks meh to me, but everyoooooonnn loves it, so you should too!
mean the same was true of the last generation. I have a PS4 which I only used for the Kingdom Hearts games, Bloodborne, Persona 5 and I guess the last guardian, everything else I played on PC.
They didn't even have the decency to release cool collections of old games like they did on PS3, the god of war games, jak and daxter games, ratchet and clank games, metal gear solid games are all stuck on the previous gen despite them already having hd ports lol. Nowadays most of those games run better on emulators than they did on consoles.
Xbox one X I have precisely zero games for because I only bought it as a cheap alternative to a 4k blu ray player. So I only use it to play old xbox and xbox360 games that are backwards compatible (there's not even that many) and other than that it's a streaming machine
There's no way I would get a PS5 or a SeX; the only way that happens is if square enix is still retarded enough to avoid releasing most of their games on PC, so I guess I would nab a used one if kingdom hearts 4 comes out years down the line, I don't care about sony's dogshit moviegames or modern ratchet and clank

Yeah I gotta start up a system wars thread which would be a general thread for every game generation (I want to talk about PC-98, which was a computer that had a Sega Genesis sound chip and the most badass osts ever.), coz there's a lot that I want to talk shit about with last gen. Like what the fuck was the point of the PS4 gen from 2013-2020? It had like no games. Nioh is the only game I like, yes I prefer it way more over Bloodborne. Every other piece of shit from last gen was just a remaster from PS2, sold for $60 lol!
PS4 is so shit, that the only games I really played were Overwatch, Paladins & Call of Duty. If I were still on PS4, I would've bought the new Call of Duty BLOPS coz there's nothing else to play. I'd have boought Yakuza 7 too. There's no reason why that can't come to Switch.

I fucking don't understand why people are purposely avoiding the Switch when it's the fucking Gaystation that censoring the shit out of your games. I could understand why Western companies hate the Switch, coz their games can't fit on a Switch card. What's the excuse with Jap devs though?

On Switch, I'm still playing the crap out of tactical shooters like Rogue Company, but SHOCK I'm actually playing games that aren't MP shit on Switch. Granted I mostly just play Nintendo shit. It's not my fault that Nintendo is like the only dev around that still knows how to make games.
Other than that it's embarassing how they're pushing for a price increment on games, while parading around a remake that looks worse than the original LOL! (My old pc can run Demon's Souls at 4k60fps.
Yeah I was talking about that in the Microshit thread. What's the point of buying Demons Souls for $70 when they made an already ugly game, even uglier? AYY LMAO!
The maiden has a double chin now. C'mon man.
It'd be fucking hilarious if Nintendo forcibly bought out all of these Jap chumps like Crapcom & From Software, and then forced them to make the women pretty again. With Bayonetta 2, Nintendo actually got angry when they didn't make Bayonetta pretty enough, so they had to make her sexier, lol.
he's really into that whole genre, we recently went through divinity original sin 2
How good is that? That's on sale on Nintendo Switch. I might get it, but the first one bored the fuck out of me coz they talk too damn much (they talk even more than Fire Emblem 3H does.) and Divinity's dialogue isn't even interesting, lol. I like my tactics games to stay on the pure tactic side like Xcom.

I was planing on posting about this. I've seen so much hype around it, first from Jim Sterling saying it was a contender for his game of the year, and then some other reviewers. Its made by the people who made Bastion, so, I suspect that it is competent at least. I started to buy it Friday on the switch since its 20% of for black Friday, but I just can't bring myself to pay $20 for a single 2D indie game. I'm too spoiled by bundles.

I was looking up the latest Shantae, & what do I see? More Hade's hype.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. HOW COME NOBODY EVER TELLS YOU WHY IT'S GOOD? They just say it's "Crazy good" or that it's a good roguelike.
Hades is a roguelike for those who don't know if they'll enjoy the genre. It is an amazingly well done game that has a ridiculous amount of content packed into a relatively simple package. I cannot recommend this enough!
This comment kinda gives you some insight, but he's basically saying that it's a roguelike for noobs, LOL! He's trying to say that it's a good game that introduces you to the genre.
Why can't anyone fucking tell you how it plays like? I've tried searching. No one says shit.

Fuck roguelikes, they're like the 3rd most abused genre within the indie scene, after Metroidvania & Soulslike. Speaking of roguelikes. That Star Renegades looks really good and the music kicks ass.

The battle system is inspired by Grandia/Trails in the Sky but it's like supposed to be hard. Seems interesting.
Since Switch has fucking nothing, I'll prob settle for a turnbased game like Xcom2 or Star Renegades. Renegades isn't on sell, but It looks like it's worth the $25 price. Everything about looks above average & it completely revolves around combat. Which is the reason why I hate Fire Emblem Three Houses. Too much damn school shit.

Renegade's battles seem to go on for way too long though. It seems like that could be boring coz it was sure as hell boring in Darkest Dungeon. I love long fights, when it's a full turnbased game like Xcom, but that's coz you're not just standing in one place. The actual enviornment could make a difference in battle.

Right now I'm leaning towards Xcom 2 for Switch, and I gotta make my choice fast since the Black Friday sell is ending. I'm sick of playing turnbased games though. Switch has such a shitty ass selection of shooters that Ion Fury is legit the best offline shooter they have on the system. Ion Fury kicks ass, an easy 9 out of 10. It's just funny that the best Switch shooter is some 90s throwback, even down to the music.
I just can't bring myself to pay $20 for a single 2D indie game.
I just bought Ion Fury for $17 but it was $20 plus tax. Worth it though. I need me a good fucking shooter that isn't a free to play online only game & this is really the only option. Oh sure there's Crysis, fuck that slow boring shit. There's Serious Sam, but meh. Serious Sam was always 2nd rate. Doom 2016? I beat that game on its hardest setting during the 1st playthrough. The unlocked new difficulty is just some lame ironman shit, which is stupid to me. Only no life nerds actually take the time to gitgud enough at a game without dying at all on the hardest setting. On top of that, Doom 2016 doesn't even have good gunplay. It's some weird game where you're just running from demon to demon, shotgunning them & then pressing the QTE cutscene. It's really meh and feels so slow when compared to classic Doom.

For some reason Ion's music sounds like Streets of Rage or Killer7 instead of Dukenukem.

Even the name of the track, reminds me of Sega Genesis while sounding like a Sega Genesis track. I think the ost is actually influenced by the Amiga though, due to DukeNukem.

That's some hardcore Killer7 or Deus Ex 1 vibes (the only DX worth a damn.)

Moodier needs more love.

That sounds like one of them Chill beats that damn near every PSX game had back in the late 90s.

FYI, Ion Fury is a better game than Duke. It feels so badass running at Doomguy speed, reloading your six shooter just in time, then you aim for the head shot & do her special quickshot attack right after. Then you reload it again, Shelly's reload animation reminds me of Dan Smith from Killer7.

Part of the reason why shooters are more fun to me than hack n slashes are, is due to the reload mechanic. Ion Fury is like the only Boomer Shooter that actually has reload, and the reload animations are as badass as Resident Evil 4 animations. I really miss the days when RE was gun porn. I fucking hate the Walking Dead larp that it became when even the original RE games were based off of Dawn of the Dead. Although Dead Rising was a much better tribute to that than RE was.

In hack n slashes, there's no down time. Oneechanbara is like the only one that has a reload mechanic of sorts, since you have to wash the blood off of your sword, but it's not implemented very well. It almost feels unnecessary.

I actually quite enjoyed playing Hades. It reminded me of some old flash games that I'd play to kill time. Though that's what it is to me, a fun little game to kill time when I get bored. While it is good, I wouldn't call it GOTY material. Then again, I don't really play much games at all these days so don't count my word on it. That said, I was quite disappointed to see that the writers ended up watering down the source material of the game's plot (Myth of the abduction and rape of Persephone) into a much more family-friendly version. I do wonder how they would've implemented that myth into the game had they made zero adjustments to it.

Maybe.

I just don't think there's enough enemies on screen. Especially when compared to Doom or DukeNukem. When I play a Boomer shooter, I want to be surrounded on all sides at all times, nonstop running & gunning. Ion Fury is fucking nuts, you can even lure enemies into doors & squash them. Then I just light up a bomb & roll it into the horde like a bowling ball, lol. Ion Fury's action is so good, that it should've got gaem of the year, but goty awards only go to movie games now like Last of Us, lol.

I'm prob gonna settle for Magaman Zero ZX Legacy (The ZX games have the gameplay & challenge that I wish Shantae games had. Both have good music though, but Shantae's ost is better.) & MMX Legacy 2 collection, or luminous.
Either that or I'll just go with Xcom 2, coz I do need a real mans strategy game for Switch. (I got cold feet 3 days ago & decided not to preorder or day 1 Empire of Sin. Looks like I made a good call coz it's not reviewing well. LOL John Romero.) Fire Emblem is for poosies who'd rather waste half of their playing time doing boring ass school shit. I'd ask who'd love this shit, but FE3H is the most popular Fe due to that school boredom simulator garbage.

Why does no one make arena shooters any more? I hate how every shooter on the switch is a goddamn single player maze game, except Doom 2016. It's like we're regressing coz I recall Gamecube & Xbox having shit loads of great fps of all styles, but now on all consoles, you only get boring slow shit on PS4/PS5 & Suckbox or you only get boomer shooters on Switch.

That one looks pretty decent though.

At least it has hordes.
It reminded me of some old flash games that I'd play to kill time. Though that's what it is to me, a fun little game to kill time when I get bored. While it is good,
Yeah, that's pretty much what it looks like. Funny though coz the hype for it is through the roof, when it just looks like every other indie game that gets overrated to high hell.

I'd settle for Shantae Half Genie Hero & Pirates Curse, coz everything about its art & music design is Grade A work, but then I recall that the main thing I hate about those games is that they're too damn easy. Like peeps say that Mario is easy, but I actually think his games are challenging or at least really fun to play coz his level designs force you to stop & think. Shantae games have brainddead platforming, but fairly ok combat. I can't see what more I'd expect though since that's exactly how the Wonder Boy (the series that Shantae is a spiritual successor to.) games were like.
WTF am I talking bout Switch in the PC thread? The only games that interest me on its eshop are PC games, whcih is why I replied on the PC thread. Even Hades is no.1 on Nintendo's eshop. Nintentoddlers play some really fucking retarded games like that Goose game which was in the top 3 for nearly half a year.

Serious Sam is not like other FPS games. It INVENTED hordes.

The First and Second Encounters are the greatest PC shooters ever made in my opinion. The madcap, breakneck flow of Croteam's patented "dancing with weapons" finds you bobbing, weaving, and circle strafing in the face of comically large hordes of enemies, each with their own unique sound cues and weapon weaknesses. What at first glance is an absurd, violent, mindless game actually has a deceptively deep formula which, once it clicks, is addictive and satisfying and holds up more than any other old school FPS.

While clearly a product of the Doom age and a parody of the pre-existing parody of Duke Nukem, the humor, countless secrets, and the pure over the top, arcadey spectacle of it all really makes it its own thing. The First Encounter is perfect too and my favorite between that and TSE changes depending on the day, but you can't go wrong with either one.

Doom 2016 was only successful because it adopted things from Sam and Sam 4's strengths come from things it adopted from modern Doom.

Sam is the best and its brand of insanity and self-aware absurdism is very in tune with Suda's style. Don't sleep on it.

Exaclty. In fact, Sam is part of a military team literally called the EDF standing for the same thing. So, while likely a coincidence, the overlap is there.
I discovered EDF way after Sam (one of my earliest games) but noticed the similar hectic over the top beauty of it right away.

Ugh... Ion Fury. Its the prequel to bombshell. A game I was looking forward to during its development, because it was made by the Duke Nukem creators. Its was suppose to star the scrapped blond bimbo sidekick chick Duke was suppose to have in the original Duke Nukem.

https://3drealms.com/news/visual-history-bombshell/
https://static.3drealms.com/media/uploa ... /23/54.jpg
https://static.3drealms.com/media/uploa ... /23/07.jpg

I was expecting something Duke Nukem-ish. What I got was a bland isometric shooters that is packed to the brim with hardcore feminist SJW misandry. Nothing like a game that actively insults the players for playing it nonstop. I actually bought it full price, because I didn't bother to look at any reviews. I bought it own the reputation of its creators alone, and man, did I kick myself in the nuts with that one. I don't think I've gotten through the second level. Its just too unbearable to play.

ION Fury is suppose to be a prequel to it. I played the demo on GOG. Its alright. Its using an enhanced version of the Duke Nukem 3D engine, but its no, Duke Nukem 3D. The feminist bullshit just kills it for me. It didn't seem to be so bad ION Fury itself, but its already ingrained in my mind. After getting fucked with Bombshell, I'm not really interested in anything else featuring the character.

The reason it sound like Duke Nukem 3D is because the makers of Duke Nukem 3D created it.

Serious Sam is mad boring to me. Its run and shoot and shoot and run all the time. It tried to take on Duke Nukem, but its a pale imitation at best. The game is so mindless and corny. Also, I got sick of the endless screaming bomb runners. I knew a dude from Russia in college who absolutely loved that shit. Like it was one of the best games ever made. Its just a shallow, mindless gun game to me.

I got Project Warlock a while back. Its pretty good. Its like Hexen and Duke 3D, though no where near as imaginative or fun to explore as those games. Definitely a lot fewer adventure elements. No real depth, but its fun enough.
