Began replaying xenoblade remake
I wish Nintendo took optimization more seriously
Looks like a bad ps3 game on portable mod3
Xenoblade chronicles x looks better
If they ever release a 1080p portable switch, I may think about it lol

Xenoblade 1's character-writing beats the shit out of XB2.
Did Etika ever play this game? He cried during Xenoblade 2 cutscenes, which were pretty good too, but what makes XB2 less heavy is that you don't have to live with the consequences. You get a happy ending no matter what.
Part of the reason why people generally prefer XB1, is coz you're dealing with a heavy burden that's just eating at you from the inside out throughout the entire game. (Unless you're some autistic faggot and you don't give a shit about Fiora at all, ayyy lmao.)
I damn near cried when I got to that part, coz she's the entire reason why you're on a quest for revenge anyway.
Only to see her with the mechons of all things. I already spoiled the entire game before I ever played it. So no need to inform me on what's actually going on. Even with spoilers, I'm able to just soak in the moment to moment happenings of a story so long as its written well, & well delivered which it is.
I can def see why Xenoblade 1 is a lot of peoples' favorite game of all time. There's just something about the way the story is written, that's just so universal. It's a basic "hero's journey" plot like The Dark Crystal but like Xenoblade 2 (which is a typical Shonen Anime), what sets them apart is how they both used common tropes as a set up for the fucking crazy ass shit that goes on in the final 3 or so chapters of each game, which completely changes your outlook on what it is that you're playing.
XB2's plot is good, but it's mostly due how it suddenly turns into a game version of Xenogears DISC 2 once you reach the world tree. The plot before that was basically just a shonen anime adv, One Piece, Dragon Ball, take your pick. I don't mind it, coz both Xenogames are heavy as fuck on philosophy and it's not your typical generic wikipedia-takes on philosophy either.
If you ignore the fact that Shulk is actually in XB2, the XB2 character who actually lived through Shulk's plot but became corrupted by the consequences, is Jin and he's like the main badguy of XB2. He even has the same exact purpose as Shulk, to kill God. God in XB2 is a chill as fuck homie though and in XB2, you're doing the reverse of the XB1 plot.
In XB1, a woman dies, so you and a group of friends set out on a mindless quest to avenge her death at all costs.
In XB2, you died, but a woman resurrects you, so long as you promise to take her to Elysium.
This is where people start to get divided.
XB1 is about Shulk and his love for Fiora.
Lotsa peeps hate on XB2 coz the plot is actually about Mythra and her love for Adam, not Rex, the motherfucker who you play ass. kek what a cuck. To be fair, Rex reminds her of Adam.
Adam himself, basically has Dunban's role, in that they're the original hero but they weren't strong enough to handle the power of the Monado/Mythra. Adam is actually married to a woman, but he was the first person who taught Mythra that she's not a weapon. Too bad for her, she didn't fully grasp that until the final events of Torna, where she eventually sealed herself away coz she was ashamed of using herself as a weapon, which lead to the deaths of billions and it sets up the plot for XB2, The titans were going extinct because she killed practically fucking everyone in Torna, lol!
The duality aspects of the two games is on purpose, as shown by the final chapters of Xenoblade 2 where you're in a race against time to stop the world from being destroyed before Shulk from Xenoblade 1 kills the final boss of his game, lol. I was hoping for a cool connection like that in Future Connected but Future Connected just established Melia as the main character as Shulk takes a back seat, since nobody give a fuck about him with the Monado. (Kinda like how nobody gives a fuck about Rex without Mythra & Pyra.)

Why do you keep saying PS3, as if there's such a thing as a Jrpg that doesn't look PS3? Have you fucking seen Kingdom Hears 3, Final Faggotry 7 Remake?, Persona 5? The first two look PS3, the Persona games looks PS2, lol.
I too was disappoited by XB DE's gfx but what could you expect when it's a 10 year old game? Play Future Connected, that shit actually looks good, coz it's directly built off of the Torna engine, and you're controlling a smll army of Noppon.
XB DE is fucking good. The one thing that makes me like it over XB2, is that it has 3 save sluts, lol. It sucks that XB2 only has 1 save slot, coz I have to replay through the fucking 100+ hour game again, just to get back to where I was. I had to start a NG+ just so I can lower my levels, and awaken Zeke's ^& Pneuma's special skills that stay locked until you start a NG+.
XB DE Melia has pretty deep combat. It's not as deep as XB2's combat. but Melia is fun enough that she makes the entire game for me. Good thing that Melia replaces Shulk as the main character in Futuree Connected, coz even in the main game, I leave Shulk AI controlled as I nuke the hell out of everything as Melia.
Shulk with Monado powered up, is probably barely as strong as Mythra. Melia's power level is prob about the same as Spoiler
Blade
Nia.
As in extremely powerful (Stronger than Morag & Eye of Justice Zeke), but still fucking weak when compared to the Gods & the Aegis Trio (Malos, Mythra & Alvis).

About smtiv gets some love
Its a 3ds game, a very good looking 3ds game
Very well presented
Burroughs is my wifey, best wifey
I clearly never understood why people disliked smtiv
Was seeing maps of nocturne smt 3, it has the black sun map design
Black sun is worshipped by nazism fourth reich
Its just a masking for occultism, saturnism
Sabbath satan saturn
I bought a copy reprint of nocturne but never played it just wanted to play if they remade it
Guess they listened, btw Also remaster smtiv
i thought everyone like SMT IV? Strange journey get a lot of hate though i don't blame them,i prefer press turn mechanics over demon co-op anyday now,i hate that protag & all three demon have to be in the same alignment to perfrom triple Damage on your enemies, you get a lnto of advantage with press turn by smashing your enemy & your enemy had no chance to counter..i can't believe i use to be hardcore strange journey fans & play this game over & over.when they announced Strange Journey Remake,i lost interest & just watched all endings on youtube. its seems they changed the endings it not just 3 endings but like many,we have full blown Law,Neutral Law,Neutral-Neutral,neutral Chaos & fullblown Chaos. also a new final boss which is another Floating head Lol
speaking of remake,i was reading lovecraft short stories about Azathoth, when i searched on youtube the first thing comes up is "AZATHOTH persona 5" i was interesed since Nyarlathothep is Persona 2 main villain although different concept from Lovecraft but one thing similar is Nyarlathothep is an evil being who likes to toying everyone.Azathoth in Persona 5 Royal true Final boss turn out its not real thing it just a Persona that Villain use to fight Protagonist & friends.
as for SMTV. i'm not interested.maybe i just watched someone play it on youtube like i always do these days.

i thought everyone like SMT IV?
I was one of those people who shat on it the most and I still liked it overall lol.
My main problem with SMT4 is that there isn't really an endgame. The final bosses are about as difficult as mid-game bosses from SMT3 and the final few dungeons were as short as a mid dungeon from SMT3. The DLC boss fights are the best in the game but they don't have any dungeons attatched to them.
Still a fun game overall though. SMT4A fixed every problem I had with SMT4 which is why a re-release of both games, maybe implementing the QOL updates from Apocalypse into 4, would make me happy but Atlus only occasionally bothers to update their own back catalog recently (even though they did it all the time during the 3ds era. I'm surprised they haven't ported all their 3ds games to switch already lol.)
Strage Journey I actually liked a lot more than SMT4 despite me preferring press turn overall. That game had a much larger focus on dungeon navigation compared to 4 or even 3 really. Though the final boss was bullshit. I haven't played the redux version yet but the recent announcements really got me into megaten again so I'll probably go through it before 5 comes out

I'm not even sure why you're telling me this because it's all self evident, I never doubted you had your reasons for getting mad nor did I censor anything you said, I just moved all the posts because they had nothing to do with nintendo
You know that I don't mind and we can talk about whatever the fuck, I just want to keep the off topic to a minimum for the sake of ease of use because I kept forgetting where everything was on the old forums
I finally turned on my switch again and added you to my friend list. (You're the only person there lol. I really don't know anyone anymore.)
I also played Astral Chain for about 15 hours and I think I love it, though I wouldn't say it's a particularly great game. However I realize now that I was wrong for worrying about the 30fps shit.
I realize now that when I hear of a game running at 30fps, my mind understands that as a sony exclusive game that runs at 30fps "in theory", which is actually 20fps with blur and bloom diarreah smeared all over the screen so you don't notice that what you're playing actually is shit. Astral Chain actually runs very well and the gamespeed matches the framerate, unlike fromsoft games lol. Kinda like god hand, which also ran at 30fps but it was consistent to the point where it never seemed like a handicap.
As per the gameplay itself, it's basically a mixture of aspects from every previous platinum game, the combat system tends to give you loads of options but all of them are pretty shallow.
For example, you get three weapons but each of them only has two ground combos, plus some basic skills like a charge attack, a stinger attack or a circular attack which all use the same imputs. You get five different helpers, but each of them boils down to two different functions in combat plus some context sensitive stuff during the investigation parts.
You can also personalize your helpers by giving them specific skills but you have to set them up yourself, point is, the game is pretty accessible and doesen't come off as completely esoteric like Wonderful 101 did. I will probably go back to W101 eventually when I have more free time to waste a full week just learning the combat system, but for now Astral Chain is more accessible. It also plays differently enough to other 3d action games that I feel it deserves to exist, that is to say, even though I can recognize mechanics from Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, W101 and what not it never feels like a carbon copy of those games, the combat system has its own identity despite being nowhere close to the best in the genre
The game is not fully an action game though. It's more of an hybrid between an investigation game where you explore hub levels (similar to deus ex levels but way smaller) to investigate the aberrations with some fighting in between, some linear setpieces, and then you're dropped into combat areas which play out closer to something like bayonetta or DMC5, where they're mostly linear corridors between one fight and the next but with some side paths to find items or optional battles or whatever the fuck.
The ranking system isn't very strict which is a good thing in my opinion, because wether you end the battle as fast and efficiently as possible or wether you waste time doing cuhhrayzee combos you'll still get an S+ rank provided you do it properly. I found out that nobody likes this ranking system apparently, because everyone just stands around farming points by making the battles last as long as possible lol. Granted it is a flaw in the system that you can actually do that, but you can easily achieve the same result in one third of the time simply by taking no damage, which was basically a requirement in 90% of MGR's ranking fights anyway. The game is built to run at 30fps, it's honestly not that difficult.
Overall it's all right and I'm enjoying it, I'd give it a 7/10 because I don't think it's gonna be much fun to replay and get high ranks in; despite me liking that the ranking system, the game has far too much down time in between action sequences which is fine for a first play through, since I am enjoying exploring the world and investigating and all that gay shit, but I believe I'm gonna get tired of it as soon as I try starting a new game plus. The game only has one unlockable difficulty anyway so there isn't much incentive to replay it on that front either.
It reminds me of FE three houses, a game I loved on my first play through but got tired of immediately afterwards when I realized that every path had the same exact battle and maps, save for the very final one and the only difference were the cutscenes lol. That and the monastery shit which as Jack said, is fine for a first playthrough but wastes 20 minutes of your time between each battle quickly becoming insufferable and you can't really skip it either, despite the NG+ bonuses mercifully making it quicker at least
Astral Chain is probably a game I would have scoffed at when I was a kid, but nowadays I'll take it and have a very fun time with it because the only alternative to switch games in the realm of single player games are those previously mentioned 20fps motion blur simulators where people walk and talk really slowly so that the next area has time to load LOL.
