It doesn't mess with me at all. I actually haven't been outside since January 31st, the day I bought Xenoblade 2. It's not like I wanted to stay inside though. It took me a whole month to beat XB2. I got sick by the time March began & the fucking lockdown happened shortly after I recovered.I went on /v/ to check out the leaks and god damn, I could feel myself becoming dumber as I was reading through shit. Now that I had to spend a month and a half in segregation, doing nothing but eating, sleeping, fucking and consuming entertainment I can see why /v/irgins are so fucking mental though. Doing nothing all day really does drive you crazy, and fuck with your perception of reality.
70s horror movies actually have plots though. Especially anything made by Wes Craven. Nearly every movie that he made back in the 70s would probably be considered as extremely controversial in le current year just due to the violence & rape it depicts toward women. Which is hilarious coz his movies need those heinous acts to illicit fear into the viewer since Wes Craven's 70s work didn't have any supernatural elements at all. It was just depicting reality.\
People defending the plot, are people who think that random violence and nihilism are somehow "daring". (They're not, they haven't been since the fucking 90s when Mortal Kombat solicited some controversy, and then proceeded to have a billion games produced for any platform imaginable unopposed. Hell slasher movies have been coming out unopposed since the 70s lol. I really don't see what's novel and provocative about violence.)
I finally see what you meant way back when we were having that conversation about Garth Ennis. I never really minded his writing because the violence in his comics is so excessive, I always saw it as cartoony and tongue-in-cheek, much like older MK games, basically a self parody that I read for entertainment and then forgot about it. I remember Krixx having a similar position as me but apparently, the average consumer sees his writing as really profound and daring LOL. To the point where TLOU2 is clearly going for a similar writing style, but it takes itself completely seriously.
The violence really does come off as pornographic because it serves no real purpose to the plot. It's just an attempt to come off as "gritty" and "realistic", but I really don't see a point because it's not really trying to say anything. I've been in the presence of dead bodies, did that elevate me as a person, just seeing a corpse? LOL.
On the other hand though, most people bitching about the plot are just as retarded, because they're just crying about not being pandered to. Gamers really only understand pandering, and feelgood stories that are about making the gamer feel "empowered" and "cool".
Zelda was just a consolized Ultima. Ultima 7 on SNES was remade to play like a Zelda game. A lot of those old ass Jap games from the 80s were just arcade-versions of Western PC games, LOL!I actually agree with the shill post that says developers should be free to experiment and do whatever the fuck. Some of the biggest successes in gaming, were born out of people thinking outside the box and doing something insane and daring for their time (that's basically every first party NES game lol. The Legend of Zelda did not follow a trend, it was revolutionary for its time. Some Super Mario Bros game mechanics originated as glitches, and were kept into the game when the devs realized they made enemy encounters more interesting. The spiky turtles were meant to have a completely different behaviour.)
LOL, Americans really love their violence against all beings female. The plot of TLOU2 just sucks ass though. Just because it was not pandering, it doesen't make it good. It reminds me of DmC, which also supposedly had a "good plot" according to game journos because it showed one of the main characters shooting a pregnant demon woman in the womb with blood pouring out and shit, and what made it good is that it was "rubbing it in the faces of gamers" LOL.
LOL fArt! Who gives a fuck about the story? It's a video toy.Hell if showing a little girl being beaten up to the point of having her eye pop out actually served a purpose for the story, I would be in favour. I don't believe in censoring art at all. I just think the script is awful. That's why I think the extreme violence is disgusting, and pornographic.
Do they? Uncharted actually does have good writing, but not for its plot. It's coz Amy Henniq is a grown ass woman, and she actually understood how to write natural dialogue that sounds like what real life people would actually say. I legit laughed at a lot of the banter that Chloe said in the latest Uncharted game. Then again I never really understood why people think Naughty Dog games were well written.
I liked the Crash Bandicoot games and the Jak & Daxter games, but I could never get into Uncharted or TLOU despite how everyone describes those games as narrative masterpieces, because the gameplay is among the worst I've ever experienced and I don't think any of those stories are saying anything of value, that hasn't been explored before in movies with better acting, direction and scripts.
How do you deal with that though? Being stuck inside is making me loose my grip on reality and...It doesn't mess with me at all. I actually haven't been outside since January 31st, the day I bought Xenoblade 2. It's not like I wanted to stay inside though. It took me a whole month to beat XB2. I got sick by the time March began & the fucking lockdown happened shortly after I recovered.
LOL now I see. Yeah you'd be better off living in a bunker. You just described hell.I live in a place that looks like Twitter irl though
Oh I wasn't even comparing them plot-wise or quality-wise. I'm just saying that extreme violence in media is nothing new, yet it's still being treated as "daring" and "provocative" to this day.70s horror movies actually have plots though. It was just depicting reality.
I thought it was common knowledge that TWD kills off any popular character they can get away with to avoid paying higher wages to their actors, lol. Even Cawwwrl was murdered over a wage dispute if I remember correctly, and he was a kid we had been seeing grow up since season 1.LOU2 is just copying Walking Dead, which has a similar amount of violence. Notice how WD has actually lost over 13 million viewers though all due to the excessive violence and the pointless killing of protags, to the point that there's nobody worth rooting for left. Or so I believe. I haven't seen a single episode ever since Rick Grimes got written out, and I didn't even see that episode either. I was way too disgusted by the forced diversity.
I can confirm it's non-religious because Italy is actually mostly Catholic, and yet sex is not the big scary no-no that is in the United States.Americans, more specifically White Anglo Saxons instead focus on the female body, and label it as a sin. Even if they're not religious. It's a cultural malaise.
Most of the post I have seen, were actually sony dicksuckers being upset that their poor digital daddy avatar has been killed, like legitimately upset as if he were a real person lol. (We obviously went to the board at different time. I hadn't been on /v/ in ages because I have self respect, but I am pretty sure threads still cycle through pretty quickly.)Most of the posts I read at /v/ seemed to have the same stance as me, and expected LOU2 to be shit anyway. It turned out to be even shittier than anyone could have ever anticipated, so it's mostly just shitposters, making fun of Soyny-fags and delighting in the schadenfreude.
This is actually what I've been saying about how it's hard to write a plot for a game because you have to constantly keep the interests of the player in mind. LOU2's writing is really no different from Walking Derp or Game of Thrones where main characters are regularly killed off and the story continues from a different character's perspective. That shit doesn't work in games though, coz games require player input in order to progress the program forward. If you don't care about the character you're playing as, then the game simply stops.
Isn't that what we're always saying though? That Sony exclusives are always trying to be movies.LOL fArt! Who gives a fuck about the story? It's a video toy.
That's what makes the LOU2 debacle so hilarious. A real video game would've gone unfazed by plot leaks.
If BOTW 2 or Metroid Prime 4 get plot leaked, you know no one is going to give a shit. Fuck, I wouldn't give a shit if Xenoblade DE new campaigns got plot leaked coz the actual games are fun to play.
I'm actually starting to wonder if the word Art in english might have different implications than in italian. It seems to me whenever you mention art in english, anyone immediately assumes you're talking about fart huffing high brow pretentious shit.LOL ur such an artfag.
Deal with what? It doesn't bother me at all. I've been doing this for years. I really don't understand why you fuckheads go crazy. Crazy from what? Lack of sunshine? Boredom? Well fuck I'm bored all the time. At least inside the house, I don't have to deal with other peoples' drama.
1st world bullshit. Kinda reminds me of what Kax was saying at the other forum, how he doesn't like shit like GTA and always prefers Nintendo games coz he actually wants games to be a form of escapism. He already sees GTA shit happening in real life, lolMy point is that it doesen't really make me feel anything because violence has been normalized in american media for 50 years, lol. Again am I elevated because I've seen a corpse? The fact that we're organic beings with organs and blood is some of the most obvious statements in human history.
That's how the show turned out by the 8th season or whatever but the actual writing style of just killing off random main characters for the shock value, came from the comics.
I thought it was common knowledge that TWD kills off any popular character they can get away with to avoid paying higher wages to their actors, lol. Even Cawwwrl was murdered over a wage dispute if I remember correctly, and he was a kid we had been seeing grow up since season 1.
It's called binary thinking. I criticize that all the time. They think there's only ever two sides to a conflict.I would argue Americans are fucked in the head in the first place since they seem to percieve the actual real world as good guys and bad guys. So in that sense it must be mindblowing for them lol. I remember they had to be told during the second gulf war that iraqis actually had families with babies and shit because apparently they were not aware of that.
Have sex. Incel. LOL when I read some of those comments that discord trannies say about me. They call me a virgin who needs to get laid. I'm like ok, Real life doesn't work like that. You don't just magically unfucked someone just coz someone called you a label, lol.I can confirm it's non-religious because Italy is actually mostly Catholic, and yet sex is not the big scary no-no that is in the United States.
In fact. I actually get weirded the fuck out by Americans who make such a big deal about getting laid. I have a couple of american friends who recently got girlfriends (though i suspect one of them might be lying lol, he has shown pics of himself with his female housemate and she seemed disgusted by him) and I'm not even hanging out with them now because all their conversations are a variation on "I got laid! I HAD SEX!" and it has gotten very boring
Everyone around me has been getting laid since I was 13 or 14 so nobody ever really talks about it, it's just a normal thing that happens so there's no point in constantly having a spotlight on yourself pointing out that you HAD SEX lol.
I saw a lot of those posts too, but I just write them off as retardera trannies. I legit believe that all of those Soyny posters are noobs & shills. A lot of them don't understand that there's a difference between games & movies so they sincerly like bullshit like Death Stranding and they actually believe that it's a misunderstood masterpiece game. Sounds like retardera to me.Most of the post I have seen, were actually sony dicksuckers being upset that their poor digital daddy avatar has been killed, like legitimately upset as if he were a real person lol.
Comes off? It is awful. What's funny is that those types usually claim that you have to be 13 years old to if you're into games that have sexy people in it, when I kinda thought that idealized people were the norm. We often buy products with idealized people in them, precisely coz they're not the norm. That's why I don't like games outside of Nintendo produce these days. You sure never see anyone who looks like Twintelle or Myrhtra in a Non-Nintendo product. All I'm saying is that the writing comes off as awful, 13yo edgy nihilists seem to have written this. I can already see the journos praising the story, just for being "gritty" and "subversive" when in reality it comes off as childish. I don't mind if they want to kill off the main character or do something else that's unorthodox, I just wish they'd do it well
DId I imply that they weren't movies? I'm damn sure that's what I was saying.Isn't that what we're always saying though? That Sony exclusives are always trying to be movies.
Not this bullshit again. When I say that it's hard to write a plot for a videogame. I'm referring to real complex narratives which can not be done within the video game medium due to the need for player input. Yes, of course it's easy to write a plot if you keep it set to a standard object based, goal oriented plot.It didn't make any fucking sense and that's why imitating movie writing does not work for videogames at all.
I don't think writing for videogames is hard at all, you just need to come up with a story that is conductive to gameplay happening as the plot.
Mario needs to rescue Princess Beach. Now Princess Beach is all the way to the right, and Mario Mario is all the way to the left. The plot in motion is that mario walks from left to right, the conflict being that there are pitfalls and goombas and turtles along the way LOL. How does Mario solve that conflict? He jumps and runs, and in the end he finds Peach all the way to the right side of the screen.
I don't think I have. Even in those games, the stories are abstracted in a way, that makes it work within a game. They're not narratives in a traditional cinematic or novel sense. They're just events that play out as a reward mechanism for completing in-game goals.Obviously you can do things that are much more elaborate than this but still be conductive to gameplay. As you yourself pointed out in the JRPG thread. What doesen't work however, is just copying script structure from movies and tv shows and expect it to work in an interactive format. Or a novel for that matter lol.
You're using the 2nd, and less used meaning of the word art.I'm actually starting to wonder if the word Art in english might have different implications than in italian. It seems to me whenever you mention art in english, anyone immediately assumes you're talking about fart huffing high brow pretentious shit.
In italian we just use it for everything, like there is an art to building a table, it doesen't have to be a giotto painting. I guess the closest concept in the english language would be "craft"?
Well I was obviously making a joke there, I guess it didn't land but it you really wanna know what gives me anxiety personally is not being able to check on my work assets. For all I know someone broke in and stole all my shit, but I won't be able to check for two more weeks lol.Deal with what? It doesn't bother me at all. I've been doing this for years. I really don't understand why you fuckheads go crazy.
The craft in that regard would be the writing. I guess most people believe that all you need to be a writer is an idea and a piece of paper to write it on.I was going to mention craft for the most apt word. The way you used it though was within the context of a story within a game. I don't see how a little girl getting her eye exploded would be any better with expert crafting. The actual rendering of the cutscene is superbly crafted. The violence looks realistic. I'm still laughing coz it's not a videogame, lol! It's a movie within the framework of a game, which plays multiple movies throughout the game as you walk to each cutscene.
That doesen't surprise me at all. I remember hearing of ND employees getting fucked by the company some time ago.
