I think it's interesting to check the pioneers out.

I'll start with Mercenary series.

This one looks interesting in how detailed the world is for the type of game engine(?) it has.
I can remember something like Elite or early TES/Ultima titles, which is too cliche.
I'm not a fan of early 3d/pseudo3d open world games for the lack of detailed graphics, aside from being erotic dream of a black n white colours fanatic. Makes them look all the same.
Though I'm interested in trying out 1991 Hunter.
