Yeah well Samurai Jack game is made by studio which core team is some ex-Itagaki people since NG1-2 days, including Katsunori Ehara who was with Itagaki since DoA1.

SamJack doesn't reach the heights of NG obviously but it's very solid and i'd say it was among best releases of 2020 and i will take it over nu-GOW anytime. Of course, most people ignored it as they expected "yet another licences game trash" or called it "wtf is this ps2 era game design", lmao. Sorry for hipsterish vid, lol, can't find decent high level plays that are not the whole chapters walkthroughs atm.
One thing though, game follows typical japanese way of "first you play game on normal to unlock moveset and stuff, then replay on higher" so first impressions might be barebones when you start it.

A lot of things that will help are in the early leveling unlocks. So i suggest focusing on purchasing mobility and abilities over combo string additions when unlocking. Things such as the Sliding Guard and Double Jump are very much necessary. You'll find that especially on difficulties such as Samurai that Sliding Guard and its attacks are very useful for both mobility and damage.

For example, Sliding Guard > Light Attack for Sword, Fists, and Hammers are good attacks. For sword especially it does as much damage as Jack's Jump > Heavy downward strike but is very quick and agile. So you can basically go Sliding Guard (Towards or to side of enemy) > Light Attack > Sliding Guard (Away From Enemy) > Light Attack. Also helps tremendously if you have attack aim on (it is by default).

Fist's Sliding Guard > Light Attack is almost as strong as Sword's, but the problem is jack lifts into the air during it, this can get you some distance and speed with no enemies around, but there are moments where he might attack an enemy who's not killed with the attack and or fall in front of another enemy behind the killed one, then he'll hang momentarily in the air as the enemy collision is holding him in the air.

Hammer's Sliding Guard > Light Attack has slow recovery but is two strong hits WITH auto guard enabled throughout the animation.

Other general things to try and keep in mind depending on the enemy is look for launching attack strings such as Sword's Light > Light > Heavy, and from there you can jump and do an air combo where your downward strike will have an aoe effect to surrounding enemies.

I'd also recommend leveling those three weapons when you can. Don't bother with clubs, I can't think of anyone who has found any value out of them that can't easily be outclassed by one of the four other weapons.

Also, the Hammer kiai is probably the best Kiai in the game in *most* situations. Where Fist kiai, while similar in attack type, typically does less damage than the hammer. Sword kiai, requires Level 4 to get as much or more damage than the Hammer's, same for Polearm kiai. And like I said, Clubs can be ignored - the kiai typically does slightly more damage than the Fist and never as much damage as the Hammer it's replicating.

Also, don't forget your projectiles. Reapers are the best in most situations. Piercing arrows work great in 2D areas as they go through enemies and hit multiple times. Guns you generally should only use for Giant Beetle enemies and poison slugs.
My personal tier list would be the following:

S: Hammer
A: Sword, Fist
B: Pole
C: Clubs

In terms of projectiles:

S: Reapers, Piercing Arrows
A: Explosive Arrows
B: Handgun, Machine Gun, Normal Arrow
C: Kaiken, Shuriken

Hammer is mostly up there for one attack and one attack only, that with Just Guard Cancelling is pretty much the only attack you need for most of the game: Sliding Guard > Light Attack.The Kiai is a viable Kiai for most of the enemies in the game except for maybe 5 at most. I believe the Ancient King is one of the enemies where the Pole's damage output outdoes the damage output of the Hammer. It's Lv 4 Kiai being burst damage with a high AOE makes it easily the best Kiai overall.

Sword and Fist can stand up to Hammer, but Sword requires the Great Samurai Warrior's Sword to really help it match the power of the Ancient Hammer. However, Sword can be very viable with Light Heavy combo string into air juggle is good for the harder zombies that bury under ground, ending it with the downward heavy slash helps as it does a small bit of AOE to do damage to enemies crowding you. It's sliding guard > light attack doesn't have auto guard like the hammer but it won't flinch to hits and is very fast. It also is just as damaging as the jump > heavy slash, for the speed/damage ratio it's quite good plus going from a guarding stance into it helps with deflections and the like. Lv 4 Sword Kiai does as much or most times more damage than a Lv 4 Hammer Kiai. However, it doesn't do burst damage so some enemies *might* break out of the hit stun, and it requires proper control with the lock-on system to direct the attacks for maximum damage. Fist's Sliding Guard > Light attack is good for big enemies like the giant beetles where their body collider prevents Jack from getting into the air after the first hit, allowing him to really deal fast and heavy damage should you not have a hammer available.

Fist's only biggest problem is it's the weakest Lv 4 Kiai in the game, in every situation the Kiai will be beat by a Level 4 Hammer Kiai. It's sliding guard > Light attack while technically giving you the fastest movement by distance, can be glitchy as Jack will hover in front of an enemy. The glitch being caused by body collision preventing him from reseting to the ground. Its best features are the 360 motion > Heavy attack which is his Tatsumaki that hits multiple times and has near full auto guard. If you also get a counter hit parry he'll really do the damage. His 360 motion > Light attack is the Shoryuken which while doing a lot of damage, but it is easily and often blocked - contradicting to the attack's description which marks it as unblockable, with a lot of recovery to it.

Pole basically is a weaker sword. Even the most damaging version of Pole (Josephine's Parasol) doesn't help too much. It's not bad, but it's not as amazing as Hammer or Sword, and the Lv 4 Kiai is on average worse damage output than either Sword or Hammer given the same situation, and takes longer to perform than either. I often haven't gotten much better use from it than given the same situation with my hammer's sliding guard > light attack or sword kit.

Clubs should be sold. It's the only real value you can get out of them. The Kiai is only slightly more damage than the Fist's, even when at Level 4. And the most damaging club is a 3-star club. It's outclassed by every other weapon.

I don't feel like going into as much detail in regard to the projectiles, as I think the list is pretty obvious. In short: Charged Piercing Arrows are the weakness for Demongo, and they are especially good in 2D sections as they'll go through most enemies on/off the screen - hitting multiple times. Reapers are sticky bombs that do damage on hit and then have a second small AOE explosion, good for crowd control and the alien slugs (including Lazarus). Speaking of Lazarus, i omitted the shock projectiles as they're only really great for the Lazarus to my knowledge, and the shock projectiles will go through him as well so you have to have your distance on point in order to do damage with them. Explosive Arrows are marked as high damage only due to the AOE but commonly it's honestly comparable damage to an uncharged piercing arrow. Handguns and machineguns just have too little stability and often break really fast, however they're still good for the alien slugs and the beetles when in tight situations.

You should play Razor's Edge. It's better than Metal Gear Revengeance and nearly every other action game, not called NG1 & NG2. The Bayonetta games are prob better, I dunno I never played Bayo 2. I like RE more than I do the DMC games.

The original NG1 was only an 8, shitty ass swimming sections. Sigma 1 & Black are perfect.
Sigma 2 is like Resident Evil 6 where the campaign bogs it down but the extra Tag Missions/ Mission mode alone, is enough to give it a 10.
In fact I revise my score, I'm giving Sigma 2 a ten just for the mission mode.

It kinda reminds me of Nioh's endgame.

The Master Collection doesn't include the original Sigma versions, it's a revised version of Sigma + from the Vita with upscaled gfx. The original Sigma's on PS3 were only a 9 for Sigma 1 and 7 or 8 on Sigma 2.
What raised MC's version of Sigma 2 + is that it's actually possible to win in the mission modes with the bots. That's what really drug the score down on PS3, coz you had to rely on the shitty ass online, that moved like a flipbook. MC's version of Sigma + has more trials & extra challenge modes. Razor's Edge is just the same RE from Wii u/ps3/360.


Sigma 2's campaign is bogged down by extra retard Sigma 2 bosses like the stupid fucking giant statue.
I normally can beat NG2 stage 1 on very hard without dying but I kept fucking dying to that fucking statue coz it doesn't play like a Ninja gaiden enemy. It played like some fucking Dynasty Warriors reject with too much damn life, life regen, and really boring ai that will instant kill you if it hits you once. It's so fucking boring!

It's funny coz the boss fight, right before the retarded statue was awesome, the Shadow Ninja Spider guy. His fight was peak Ninja Gaiden coz you're supposed to dodge roll after blocking and then slash him to death in between the dodges until he attacks and then you block again, to dodge right after and maul him to death with another combo. You'll kill him in 30 fucking seconds once you get the sequence of the combat-flow down. That's Peak Itagaki design. His games have an odd Zen-like balance to them once you get the flow of combat down, to the point that it feels peaceful & melodic, despite all of the on-screen violence, lol.
In Itagaki action games, you can kill damn near everyone in less than a minute when you know what you're doing.

Modern Action games not made by Team Ninja, SUCK! They always play like Diablo for some reason, an RPG where your skills don't matter at all, only your build does.
In Nioh, you need both a good build and skills. It's not as good as Ninja Gaiden, but for a modern game the Nioh series is one of the best. I'd prob rank Monster Hunter a little bit above it though, just coz MH has way more enemy types & AI.

Give it a chance. RE is the most similar to OG NG2, in terms of violence at least and RE is non-stop action. That's actually the reason why I don't like it as much as the first two. RE is so action focused that the level designs are literal arenas where you can't move forward until you kill everything.

NG RE's problem is that it's not balanced. As hard as Itagaki's games are, his shit is balanced and it never feels unfair. Shit in RE jsut block fucking everything you throw at them. RE AI feels like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo AI, lol! (FYI THAT's BAD. SSF2T ai sucks coz it CHEATS!)

You're really sleeping on Nioh. That game is awesome, it's in the same timeline as Ninja Gaiden (Muramasa & the Hayabusa Clan are in Nioh.) but you're playing as a Weeb-Samurai instead of a Dragon Ninja, so you're a lot slower like a Samurai.

A lot of faggots are hating on NG Master Collection just coz it's the Sigma games. A real master collection would have every single version, but even Sigma 2 is way better than nearly every Action game not called NG1 or NG2.

What I love about NG2's level design is how it plays out like the NES NG games, where you run jump & kill nonstop. Sigma 2 does kinda ruin the pacing since you're mostly running & jumping and then waiting 5 minutes to finally kill something but it's not that jarring when played side by side with NG1 which had much slower pacing to begin with.


P.S. Don't even bother with Yaiba. It plays like a Dynasty Warriors game, but without DW's strangely addicting (for 3 minutes) gameplay. Grandfather of Megaman is just some faggot ass Westaboo, killing every damn franchise he could get his influence on. Even fucking Dead Rising is dead, coz it turns out that it never sold more than 1 million copies per game (except for the original), lol!

In reality, Ninja Gaiden is a D-tier franchise when compared to Le Current Decade. Just look at NG MC's metacritic scores. NG is getting crucified on Steam. DAMMMN, people really don't like Ninja Gaiden.
That has more to do with the PC port being terrible I believe. I didn't get it, because I happen to have an xbox one x (me and three more people) where you can play NGB and NG2 at 4k60fps out of the box. The new port has the sigma versions which I am not too fond of. (Sigma 1 is good, I'm just more used to Black. Sigma 2 is boring because it plays more like devil may cry, where there's fewer enemies that take a lot more hits to kill. I like DMC for what it is, when that's the name of the game I'm signing up for, but I prefer the original version of NG2.)

I still can't finish either game on VH because I am a scrub lol. I still have not played 3RE, nor Yaiba which I heard was so awful, it was partially responsible for the franchise dying off.
At least I can finish all three NES games consistently which yeah, great achievement there. I can do what 10yo kids used to do in the 80s after doing their homework or some shit.

Months ago QIsh raccomended this game to me, it's a Samurai Jack game that sort-of kind-of plays like a PG version of Ninja Gaiden.

It was all right. I can't say I'll ever play it again but it wasn't bad.

The Ninja Gaiden Master Collection makes me sad.

Sad because when I first played NG1 & 2 nearly 2 decades ago!, I viewed those games as the wave of the future. Or just the beginning of it.
Fast forward to 2021, I'm wasting $40 on some old ass shit, coz 2 decades later, the NG trilogy is still the best series of action games that you''re ever going to get. You don't beat up pinatas like you do in Bayonetta & Devil May Cry, or play through cinematic-kills like GOd of War.
Ninja Gaiden turned boys into men. In more ways than one!

I love how NG games don't revolve around combos at all. They're about killing your opponent before they kill you, so you play around with the idea of killing everything in one hit by chopping their heads off.

This guide describes NG as dying slower than your opponents, which is basically the same as killing your opponents before they kill you.
Taking damage is good
Ninja Gaiden has no scoring bonus for coming out of a fight unscathed and there’s a reason for this. Especially within its later entries, taking damage is part of the fight. Once you accept this, the games become a lot less frustrating to play. The whole concept of Ninja Gaiden is to die slower than your enemies. There’s plenty of minor projectiles, off screen grabs or stray bullets that will graze you.

Going for a no-damage run in Ninja Gaiden is possible, but it doesn’t promote skillful play or interesting combat, as each fight turns from a tense melee into a cowardly test of patience. So take that hit, take the risk, and don’t reload every time you are hit or have to use an item.
The dangers of the Izuna Drop
While exceptionally cool, the Izuna Drop is quite the trap. Generally unsafe upon landing, it’s damage output was also decreased over the subsequent games and abusing it will not teach you how to play Ninja Gaiden’s ever so important ground-game. Use it, but don’t abuse it!
I disagree with them about the Izuna drop. I think you should spam the fuck out of Izuna, any chance you get. Especially If you consider yourself a real ninja, you only play on Very Hard & Higher. Don't be a Hero Ninja Dog Faggot! THOSE OTHER MODES DON"T FUCKING EXIST! Erase those joke lower difficulty levels from your mind or you'll never understand what truly makes Ninja Gaiden such a masterpiece.
(Obviously you should play normal if it's your first time, but for me Normal is easy & boring. it doesn't exist to me, coz I play on a level much higher than that.)

It's not as if you'll land Izuna everytime coz Itagaki's ai will actually roll out of the way, hitstun you,backstab you, they'll do anything they can to avoid getting Izuna dropped.
I don't understand what they mean about Izuna drop leaving you wide open. The Izuna drop has a huge AOE effect when it collides with the ground so most people within the vicinity are either dead, or have been flown completely out of your range after you hit the ground.




NG1 mastered game design. The level designs, enemy placement, combat flow, story pacing, adventure exploration are all unmatched to this day, and it fucking pisses me off.

I feel like one of those Boomers who grew up watching The Jetsons & Star Trek, and dreamed of technology from the future, which is why Boomers are so hooked on Facebook & Iphones and shit, coz to them, that's what the future looked like back in the 70s when they were teens & 80s when they were young adults.
In my case, I saw videogame being perfected back in the early 2000s, two masterpieces delivered by Oatmeal Cookie face, but there hasn't been another action game at Itagaki's level ever since, not even from Itagaki himself!

I understand why this is, it's coz game publishers realized that they could make more money by concentrating on marketing over game design. The end result is that we're still playing games that play like fucking PS1 games, but with Modern Era SJW graphics where all of the women are ugly & fat with pimples all over their fucking face.
It's just sad that I have to cling to oldass shit like Ninja Gaiden coz it legit feels newer than modern-era games that looked like they were made a decade ago.

Even something like Monster Hunter Rise looks like a 2012 era game, but that's actually one of the Switch's best looking games AYY LMAO!
Speaking of which, game quality is so low now, that I treat Monster Hunter like a king, coz it really is the king when compared to modern-era games.
Back in NG's era though, Monster Hunter would only be B-tier and Dark Souls wouldn't even be noticed, coz NG1 & 2 has just as much attention to backgrounds & aesthetics as the Souls games have.

Ninja Gaiden 1 came out the year that I became an adult, and holy fucking shit, seeing Rache it's like damn right I became a man after glancing at her.
Even back then I thought she was the finest thing I ever seen, and I still think that. Momiji also the finest the thing I ever seen. I only like Itagaki's Ayane though, her DOA self is meh. Itagaki was great at knowing what's considered attractive for a White woman & a Japanese woman.

NG2 mastered combat. NG3 was some shit prototype for that shit Last of Us or God of War 4 or some bullshit coz Ryu is out here acting like some surrogate father to some little girl, lol. What the hell were they thinking when they made NG3? I don't wanna see Ryu raising kids. WHAT THE FUCK!!!
Even Razor's Edge's combat is good enough, that you can overlook the massive change in focus that NG3 had ove the previous 2 games. NG3 got fucking weird man, they even scream Ryu's name over codec or whatever when he dies, like MGS. NG3 even tries to play out more like some shitty ass Western style cinematic game.

Although RE's combat is good. It prob nowhere as polished as NG1 & NG2. In the first two NG's, I can play at the highest default unlocked difficulty setting, and I'll blast through the first level without dying.
In RE, I constantly fucking die in the first damn level on Very Hard.
That's how you know it's not an Itagaki game.
Itagaki games have a rhythm to it, that once you finally understand, you just play alongside the beats.

NG1 has slower, counter based combat.
NG2 has my fave combat flow, coz it's straight up about obliterating your opponents.
NG3 RE, I can't really figure it out. I just press buttons and shit happens.
NG3 RE reminds me of Metal Gear Revengeance. they feel similarly clunky but RE has a bit more freedom to its combat since you're not required to rely on parries for most of the later half boss fights like you are in Raiden's game.

It's fucking trash. There's no thought put into the mobs so you just murder through everything, everytime you power up a super move. Unlike in the The Takeover where it's a much better idea to save your supers & rages for when you really need it, so you use your gun to control hostile crowds instead.
Every console beat em up from the PSX era is garbage except for Guardian Heroes and some Japanese-only beat em up where you're fighting on a ship. I forget what it's called.

The Takeover= 7 out of 10
Streets of Rage 4= 8.5 out of 10
Fight N Rage= 9 out of 10
Although on Switch you can clearly see that I played SOR4 the most since I have over 70 hours in it and I'm still not bored.
I only have 20 hours in Fight N Rage.
5 hours in The Takeover. SOR4 has online mp & PVP which is why I played it the most. Fight N Rage only has couch co-op and it does have an arena mode similar to Guardian heroes. There's a ton of content to unlock in FNR, but SOR4 wins out for me coz it actually has online play. I have at least 10 people in my friends list that I met through SOR4. I also used to be in the top 20 of the SOR4 scoreboard when it first came out. (I was no. 17.)

Fight N Rage is the best designed game of the three, but only SOR4 allows me to show off my skills and play against other people in a death match.
The Takeover is the most accurate to the SOR lore & tone, but the game play is just merely good. The Takeover could easily be a 9 though if it didn't have to compete against Fight N Rage & SOR4.
SOR4 may even be a 9 now after the latest DLC. It ain't as good as the SOR trilogy, but it's a damn good game and it almost feels like a 2d version of DMC & Ninja Gaiden combat.

though journos keep calling it a souls-like which makes me think it won't be a pure action game at all. It just looked like one from the trailer. I am interested in seeing how it pans out though

I swear just reading about the plot makes me laugh. I only ever played Turd Bday through emulation, same case with Xenoblade 1. I feel that you don't really get the true experience unless you actually play it on the physical system. I gradually stopped playing Turd Bday coz I just couldn't put up with the plot anymore. It's not exactly a plot that you could just ignore. I quit Xenoblade 1 for the opposite reason. I got up to the part where Fiora gets murdered-the-fuck-out of her own fucking game right in the first fucking hour, and I was like WOOOOOAAHHHHAHAAHAHHH! That shit blows my fucking mind! LOL!

I can't play this anymore. Xenoblade is too epic. I'll have to wait until I get it on New 3ds. I did receive the New 3ds version as a gift, but I couldn't play it coz I didn't upgrade my 3ds. I bought a PS4 instead.

LOL, this is why XB elitists hate XB2. This is a comparison of the first major deaths that influence the rest of their respective games.

Dude though, as bad as Rex's acting is. At least Haze's death which happens much later makes up for everything. Her death gets to me coz her immediate-twitch reaction after being suddenly impaled to death is to gently caress the face of her murderer & even her murder gets shocked by that reaction and gets emotionally shaken up by her. That's some damn solid scene-direction.


How does the time loop even happen? LOL! This is what I mean when I say it's like a wannabe Xenoblade. Xenoblade sounds nonsensical, but it actually makes a lot of sense its plot is structured around the string theory. There's even a bunch of stupid mumbo jumbo about Jin's super-powered ability where he can maniupulate all particles or some shit and move beyond light-speed, but his ability is immediately cancelled out by the awakening of Pneuma who has the ability to create worlds (It's an ability from the Monado sword in XB1.) Which screws around with Jin's sense of time coz she's creating new slightly different realities that interfere with Jin's sense of time, and all of this happens just so some stupid little Kingdom Heart-reject (Rex) can find a split-second opening to stab Jin, lol. It's such fucking over the top anime bullshit, but it actually makes sense. :lol: :lol: !


I happily gulp down all of this insanity only due to how it falls in line with the string theory machinations that the entire plot seems to be based around. Basically that monolith from 2001 Space Oddysey has the ability to create entire universes and shit, but it has the side-effect of deleting the current universe to make room for the birth of a new one. Oh, and also whomever uses this piece of shit block, becomes God & creator of that world. OO H OOH, but you don't even need to actually be the one who activated the stone. You could just be one of the few survivors who was in the room when it activated and you too will become some badass god bitch.

Ok, it works fo me, lol! It all works for me coz it makes sense as a meta narrative where 6d beings (there's 10 dimensions of perspective) are being portrayed as gods within a 2d setting, we the players are the 3d observers & we're seeing multiple timelines (4D) playing out through the XB games. We never see a being who exist above 10d, so there's no actual gods within the setting. Just pretenders to the throne.

It works for me. XB games make sense within the ruleset of string theory. There's even elements of the Mandela-effect since XB2 & XB1 directly releate to each other but it's not revealed to you until XB2's finale where you actually hear Shulk killing the final boss from his game which results in the death of the god from XB2. (XB2's god is chill, and seemed like a cool guy.)
PE3 in comparison doesn't make fucking sense at all.

You know what else doesn't make sense? God of War 4. You destroy the world in GOW3 but apparently Kratos is able to just walk to the next country and act like nothing ever happened lol. The amazing part to me is that gamers are so fucking dumb that they happily eat this shit up.

That's not what I argued. I argued that there's a huge difference between PE2's inoffensive plot, and Turd Birthday. PE2's plot is basically a throw-away story that damn near every franchise has by the time it gets to their 4rth or 5th installment. It's basically just a random sequel from Deathwish or Rocky 5. A story that didn't need to be told, but we're shown it anyway coz they ran out of ideas.
Turd Birthday has practically nothing to do with Parasite Eve. Turd Birthday took an existing series, but replaced it with Motomu Toriyama's fan fiction. His Aya brea is basically Lightning anyway, but an impure Lightning who gets killed in her own story before the game even starts, LOL!


I don't ask for much. Tomonobu Itagaki basically makes up a bunch of random bullshit but he is actually one of the better game writers, because his plots are filled with lore,in-game history & myths that are told through a simplistic story that happens due to the lore. (NG1 happens due to clan on clan warfare. LOL in the DOA games, Kasumi was being hunted down by the Hayabusa clan until they suddenly dropped that plot after Itagaki got kicked out.)
Itagaki games are always steeped with so much (made-up) history & lore that happens before the game even begins but it works because it helps you piece together when these games happened and why they happened. Even though Itagaki is just making shit up as he goes along.

Ryu was killing vampire werewolves before NG2 starts, and you even see a different clan of werewolves terrorizing Paris during the actual game. In Sigma 2, the same clan he destroyed tried to take over Japan while Ryu was in Europe but Rachel was in Japan for some reason (prob a one-night stand with Ryu lol.) and she hunted them all down.
No wait I think that was Momiji who killed of the remnants of the Vamp-Werewolves, lol. Rachel killed off the final survivors of the Empire that you destroyed in NG1 but were trying to get revenge and they invade Japan while Ryu was away, only to be destroyed by Rachel.

See it's very simple writing, but it works, it feels large-scale (Epic), and you get a sense of the world's balance of power. Ryu kills the main threats, Momiji kills the threats who weren't even badass enough to get their own game. Rachel destroys the main-faction from the previous game.

KH does have a plot that hurts me brain, but I don't find it as offensive as PH3. I recall that I eventually just ignored the story while playing through KH2 but I stopped playing when you had to backtrack every where.

That honestly doesn't sound as bad as Turd Birthday.
If that were Xenoblade, you could easily explain that away as multiple timelines merging, and one of the souls got trapped inside of an artificial blade, or cyborg. This could then lead to an explanation of how Poppi is so randomly high-tech. (In-game, we simply assume that Nopon's are just super smart.) It's coz her personality is not an A.I. construct at all, it's an actual person trapped inside of a machine. I could think of over a dozen cool plots to roll with in KH's plot.

Turd Birthday makes my head hurt coz everything seems to happen to serve Maya Brea, the entire plot happens in service to her, not because of her. It's basically just a dream fantasy where you center the entire plot around someone who doesn't even fucking matter but they do matter coz they're the main character but as a main character she doesn't do anything. It's so fucking frustarating coz this Toriyama gook doesn't seem to understand how to write at all. I don't understand what he's going for. His writing style just sounds like lore, but it's not actually lore. It's the actual story, but it's not really a story coz I'm not witnessing a journey.
Even something like Inland Empire is at least a journey of self-discovery. Toriyama tries to write weird abstract stories like Lynch, but he seems to only care about plot tweeests and the entire plot is written in a way to hide the dumbass plot twist which just makes the story even worse after the plot-twist is revealed :lol: .


Yeah yeah completely off-topic but I think that the original God of War series & both Ninja Gaiden series (Modern & NES) have good plots, and it's their writing, lore & cinematography that's part of the appeal of those franchises.

But the plot of kingdom hearts actually used to make more sense than the third birthday, or final fantasy XV for that matter because it relied on a scarce resource (hearts/souls) that is harnessed by different outfits for different objectives.
Once you gather enough souls the door to Kingdom Hearts / God is opened and you can reshape the universe. You could just replace souls with money, and the gathering of coin is what allows you to reshape society through economic power lol.
(Or it may have been grain in the classical era.)

Most plots centered around consolidation of power, actually rely on the collection and holding of scarcities. In Deus Ex Bob Page consolidates power by engineering a disease of which only he owns the vaccine.
Most videogame plots are completely detatched from reality though. The plot of PE3 makes no sense because the main villain is after "power" by going through a timeloop that turns people into monsters and I have no fucking clue what's that supposed to achieve.
I just don't care as much if a videogame happens to have an awful plot though. That's just par for the course. Rarely do actual (professional) writers get employed in videogames. No wonder their stories and dialogues are awful.

Top
